Terms of Use
Effective Date: January 15, 2025
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Neotecsys website and educational services. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you don't agree with any part of these terms, please don't use our services.
We're a database programming education provider based in Taiwan, offering practical learning experiences. Our approach focuses on real-world skills, and we want to make sure you understand what to expect when you work with us.
1. Acceptance of Terms
When you visit neotecsys.com, register for our programs, or engage with our content, you're entering into an agreement with Neotecsys. This applies whether you're browsing casually or participating in our full learning programs.
We update these terms occasionally. Sometimes it's because of legal requirements, other times because we've added new services. We'll post the new effective date at the top, and continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
You must be at least 18 years old to enroll in our programs. If you're under 18, you'll need consent from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these terms on your behalf.
2. Educational Services
Program Enrollment
Our database programming courses are designed to build practical skills over time. Most programs run for several months, with enrollment periods typically opening in autumn 2025 and early 2026. When you register, you're committing to attend scheduled sessions and complete assigned work.
We maintain relatively small class sizes to provide better interaction. This means spots are limited, and we process applications on a rolling basis. Meeting the basic requirements doesn't guarantee acceptance — we consider your background, goals, and how well our program fits your needs.
Course Content and Materials
All course materials, including documentation, code examples, video recordings, and assignments, remain the intellectual property of Neotecsys. You're granted a personal, non-transferable license to access and use these materials for your own learning.
- You can download materials for personal reference during and after your program
- You cannot share course materials with people who aren't enrolled
- You cannot republish or sell our content on other platforms
- You cannot use our materials to create competing educational products
Schedule and Availability
We do our best to stick to published schedules, but sometimes things come up. Instructor illness, technical issues, or unexpected circumstances might require us to reschedule sessions. When this happens, we'll notify enrolled students as soon as possible and arrange alternative times.
Session recordings are typically available within 48 hours if you miss a class. But learning works best when you show up consistently — recordings are a backup, not a replacement for participation.
3. User Responsibilities
Account Management
You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Don't share your login information with others. If you suspect someone has accessed your account without permission, contact us immediately at help@neotecsys.com.
Your account is personal to you. We don't allow account sharing or transfers to other individuals. If multiple people in your organization want to take our courses, each person needs their own enrollment.
Conduct Expectations
We've built a learning environment where people support each other. This requires everyone to act professionally. Here's what that means in practice:
- Treat instructors and fellow students with respect, even when you disagree
- Ask questions freely, but don't monopolize class time or discussion forums
- Give constructive feedback when working on group projects
- Don't harass, discriminate against, or intimidate others
- Keep discussions relevant to course topics in official channels
We take violations seriously. Depending on the severity, we might issue a warning, temporarily suspend your access, or terminate your enrollment without refund. We'd rather not do any of that — just be decent to people.
Technical Requirements
You need reliable internet access and a computer that meets our minimum specifications. For database programming work, this typically means a reasonably modern machine with at least 8GB RAM and ability to run database software locally.
We provide detailed technical requirements before enrollment. It's your responsibility to ensure you have the necessary setup. We can't offer refunds if your equipment doesn't meet the requirements you were informed about.
4. Payment and Refunds
Payment Terms
Program fees are stated clearly during the enrollment process. Payment is typically due before your first session, though we sometimes offer payment plans for longer programs. All fees are in Taiwan dollars unless otherwise specified.
We accept major credit cards and bank transfers. Payment processing is handled securely through third-party providers. We don't store your full payment information on our servers.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Life happens, and sometimes you need to withdraw from a program. Our refund policy tries to be fair while recognizing that we've reserved your spot and prepared materials:
- Full refund if you cancel more than 14 days before the program start date
- 50% refund if you cancel between 7-14 days before the start date
- No refund if you cancel less than 7 days before the start date
- No refund after the program has started, regardless of attendance
If we cancel a program due to low enrollment or other reasons, you'll receive a full refund or the option to transfer to a different session.
5. Intellectual Property
Our Content
Everything on neotecsys.com — the text, images, course materials, code examples, design elements, and organizational structure — is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Neotecsys or our licensors own all of it.
The Neotecsys name and logo are our trademarks. You can't use them without written permission. This includes creating materials that might make people think you're affiliated with us when you're not.
Your Work
Projects and assignments you create during our programs belong to you. We might ask to showcase exceptional student work as examples for future cohorts, but we'll always get your permission first.
When you post in discussion forums or share work for peer review, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display that content within our learning platform. This is just so other students in your cohort can see and learn from it.
6. Privacy and Data
We collect and process personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. That's a separate document you should read, but here are the key points relevant to these terms:
- We collect information necessary to provide educational services (name, email, payment details)
- We track course progress and completion to issue certificates and maintain records
- We use analytics to understand how people use our platform and improve the experience
- We don't sell your personal information to third parties
- We comply with applicable data protection regulations
If you're located in the European Union or other regions with specific privacy laws, you may have additional rights regarding your data. Contact us to exercise those rights.
7. Disclaimers and Limitations
Educational Outcomes
We work hard to provide quality education, but we can't promise specific career outcomes. We don't guarantee that completing our programs will result in employment, salary increases, or particular job opportunities. Your results depend on many factors including your effort, prior experience, and market conditions.
Our courses prepare you with practical database programming skills. Many students do advance their careers after completing our programs, but your individual outcomes will vary. Success in the job market depends on factors outside our control.
Service Availability
We provide our platform and services "as is" without warranties of any kind. We try to maintain consistent availability, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Technical issues, maintenance, or other problems might temporarily prevent you from accessing materials.
We're not liable for losses resulting from service interruptions, provided we make reasonable efforts to resolve issues promptly and offer alternative access to critical materials.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Neotecsys's total liability for any claims related to our services is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the incident that gave rise to the claim.
We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
8. Third-Party Services
We use various third-party services to deliver our programs — video hosting, payment processing, email communications, and collaboration tools. These services have their own terms of use and privacy policies.
When you use our platform, you might interact with these third-party services. We choose reputable providers, but we're not responsible for their practices or any issues that arise from their services.
Our platform might include links to external resources for supplementary learning. These links are provided for convenience. We don't endorse or assume responsibility for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party websites.
9. Termination
By You
You can stop using our services anytime by simply not accessing the platform. If you want to formally close your account, contact us at help@neotecsys.com. Account closure doesn't entitle you to refunds for programs you've already started.
By Us
We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, engage in behavior that harms other students or instructors, or misuse our platform. We'll typically warn you first unless the violation is severe.
If we terminate your enrollment for cause, you won't receive a refund. If we discontinue a service or program for business reasons unrelated to your conduct, we'll work with you to find an appropriate resolution.
Effect of Termination
When your access ends, you lose the right to use our platform and access course materials. Provisions of these terms that should reasonably survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability) will continue to apply.
10. Dispute Resolution
If you have a problem with our services, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved through direct communication. We're generally reasonable people who want you to have a good experience.
These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan. Any disputes that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the courts located in Taipei City, Taiwan. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of these courts.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision doesn't constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
11. General Provisions
Entire Agreement
These Terms of Use, together with our Privacy Policy and any specific program agreements you sign, constitute the entire agreement between you and Neotecsys regarding our services. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
Assignment
You can't transfer or assign your rights under these terms to someone else. We can assign our rights and obligations to another entity, for example if we're acquired or merge with another company.
Force Majeure
Neither party is liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from causes beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, or government actions.
Language
These terms are written in English. Any translations are provided for convenience only. In case of conflict between the English version and a translation, the English version controls.
12. Changes to These Terms
We review and update these terms periodically to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or through a prominent notice on our website.
Your continued use of our services after we post changes means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with the changes, you should stop using our services and contact us about closing your account.
For students enrolled in active programs when terms change, the previous terms will generally continue to apply for the duration of that specific program, unless the changes are required by law.
